We’ve named the rooms and suites of the Auberge in homage to the artists and writers who have lived in the quartier du Carré St-Louis.

Octave Crémazie
He was one of Quebec most important romantic writers. After his studies at the Petit Séminaire du Québec, he opened a bookshop that became one of the hubs of the cultural life of Quebec City – Quebec’s great authors met there. In 1850 he visited Europe for the first time and attended the literary salons of the day. After the bankruptcy of the bookshop, he fled for Paris in clandestine fashion and took the name Jules Fontaine. He worked in various Paris bookshops until his death in 1879. His collected poems appear in the tome Littérature canadienne de 1850 à 1860.
